"I love you, LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold." Psalm 18:1-2

"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood -- to be received by faith." (Romans 3:23-25a)

The songwriters direct our minds to God who is our rock and our redeemer. Each verse of this song causes us to reflect on different biblical truths while keeping the central theme of God being our rock and redeemer.

Verse 1 causes us to reflect on the preciousness of God. On the truth that our delight can be found nowhere else but in our God.

Verse 2 causes us to reflect on the protection God gives us. On the truth that even in difficult times we can trust that God will deliver us.

Verse 3 causes us to reflect on the saving work of Christ. On the truth that Jesus saved us from our ruined lives by offering himself in our place on the cross. And on the truth that Jesus rose from the dead conquering sin and death.

The song finishes with a prayer, that our lives would bring glory to his name.

Sing this song in your homes! Reflect on God, our rock and our redeemer.
