Children Ministries

Our church seeks to team up with parents through a weekly program and special events that introduce children to Christ and build a biblical foundation for faith!  Our Awana club is an excellent program for reaching kids with the good news of our Savior, providing a means to teach them God’s word and demonstrating God’s love for them.

The Awana program includes a Council Time when the kids are taught lessons from God’s word; Awana strongly encourages regular bible verse memorization and we also have a fun time playing some games.  This program runs from September through April on Wednesday evenings.

Our Children's Church is designed to teach and reach children with the Word of God in a way in which they can both learn and have fun in their own Sunday Morning service! It is a time packed with exciting teaching, Scripture games and snack.

Pre-school - For children ages 3 and 4 years old.
This program runs for our entire morning service and the children are taught from a curriculum that focuses on Jesus' love and pleasing God.

Primary - For children ages 3 to 7 years old.
We believe it is important for the children at this age to begin to learn what "big church" is all about, so we invite them to join us for part of the worship service. They are dismissed prior to the message to go into their own class to be taught from God's word at a level that they can understand.

At Port Perry Baptist Church, we believe that Bible centered teaching is critical for spiritual growth.  Each Sunday morning we meet at 9:30 for age appropriate teaching in an interactive environment for all ages.  We welcome you to join us as we study the word of God and encourage its application in your life.

Children

We believe that children are a precious gift from God.  Loving care and age-appropriate teaching is provided to help children grow in their understanding of God. The curriculum and resources used are Bible-based and geared to the spiritual, emotional, and cognitive development of the children.

Babies and toddlers are introduced to the love of God as it is demonstrated by our faithful care-givers.

Pre-school

Children aged two to five are taught about God and Jesus through lessons drawn from both the Old and New Testaments.  Our desire is to teach and model for them God’s love and providential care. 

Grades 1 to 6

We seek to help the parent nurture their child’s faith development by providing an opportunity for children to learn more about God, His plan of redemption, the life of Christ and how to live the Christian life.  This is accomplished through a systematic rotation of Old and New Testament studies which covers more than just the typical and familiar stories of the Bible. 

Each class is taught by teachers who are committed to teaching your children God’s word.  The curriculum is geared for each age group and seeks to challenge them to not be mere hearers of the word only, but also active participants as they read and search the scriptures for themselves.  We desire that each child have a greater understanding of what God wants them to know from each passage as well as how they can put into practice what they have learned. 

Youth
Junior High (grades 7 and 8)

Our junior high boys and girls are at a special stage in life as they are entering the teenage years.  Our teaching is focused on building a solid foundation for their faith and preparing them for the life decisions that will come very soon.  We believe that through our interaction and teaching, we can be a good support for parents during these years.

Senior high (grades 9 through 12)

Due to the unique nature of teenagers we have separate male and female classes. They are taught scripturally base life lessons that seek to challenge our youth to live a life that will glorify God.  They are also encouraged to memorize scripture and share in prayer together. 

Adult

Our Adult Bible Class seeks to teach the truth of God’s word through the study of books of the bible, topical studies and video series.  The goal of these interactive classes is to equip us for living a God honouring life and in turn to be a light in the world in which we live. 

We believe wholeheartedly in the Great Commission of Matthew 28, to “go and make disciples” and Sunday school is one way for us to fulfill this command.

Nursery is a loving and safe environment designed to care for and nurture children during the first two years of life. We offer this program during our Sunday services and during some of our other ministries.
